Safety sensors for a safe warehouse
In any warehouse that uses heavy machinery, safety is of the upmost importance. With forklifts and stacker cranes the operator must be focused to make sure that they do not hit the racks or tip over when picking a heavy pallet. Not only is this a risk to your employees, but also to your warehouse, your assets, and ultimately your bottom line. The HUBMASTER’s many Active Safety features work to make sure that both your operators and your assets are guarded against many of the dangers associated with forklifts.
Conventional and stacker forklifts pose a strong compromise on safety and represent one of the highest risk factors in warehouses.
1,000,000 forklifts are used across the USA. Every year, forklift-related industries result in 35,000 serious injuries across the country (OSHA).
- The first zone is called the green zone and it is in the center of the aisle. In this zone, an operator has free motion and all varieties of speeds are allowed.
- Next is the yellow zone, this zone is a little bit closer to the shelves and therefore a zone with higher risk. Low speed is activated for all lateral and forwards movement, but it can still go at full speed to drive away from the racks.
- The last and closest zone to the shelves is called the red zone. Here, the HUBMASTER cannot go forward or turn towards the shelving. All it can do is go backwards, turn away from the shelving, or move laterally along the aisle at a slow speed. If you are about to drive into a shelf and cross into the virtual red zone, the HUBMASTER will sense it and stop automatically. This makes it impossible for an operator to drive straight into or turn into the shelves.
These safety sensors greatly reduce the risk of having a forklift-related injury or accident in your warehouse. The HUBMASTER acts as a safeguard against accidents in your warehouse.
